Skills & Knowledge:

How has this course or qualification enhanced your knowledge and skills?

This qualification has been invaluable in solidifying my existing fitness knowledge and practices. I have years of teaching experience and have done a lot of learning on this topic previously, so while I wasn’t necessarily learning entirely new concepts, the course provided a formal framework that validated and refreshed my understanding, allowing me to apply it with confidence during my sessions.

How has it impacted your confidence and self-esteem?

Achieving this qualification has given me a real sense of accomplishment. It’s not just about the certificate; it’s about the confirmation that I’m offering quality teaching to the amazing older adults I teach in the community.

How has it contributed to your career goals and aspirations?

I highly value learning related to my role and it provides me with confidence and knowledge to innovate within my fitness offerings. Since completing the course, I’ve introduced a new ‘Arm Chair Boogie’ class to my timetable, which has been incredibly well-received.

Are you considering further education or training?

Yes, I am always considering furthering my education or training. The fitness industry is constantly evolving, and I believe it’s essential to stay up-to-date with the latest research and techniques.

Challenges & Advice

What are the biggest challenges you faced during the course or qualification?

Honestly, the biggest challenge was just finding the time. Juggling work, personal life, and study requires careful time management and a lot of discipline but is ultimately very rewarding.

What advice would you give to others considering similar training opportunities?

Take advantage of opportunities like this. The benefits go far beyond the funding for the training course itself. For me, the most beneficial element has been the relationship with the team from Active Lincolnshire, they have created a space in which I no longer feel so alone.
